The Prophet
of Purity
Allah. We may not understand all the details of how Isa
al-Masih can purify us, we just need to trust that Allah
knows best. In the Honoured Qur’an we are told that
Allah gave Jesus the power and authority to raise the
dead, cleanse the lepers, give sight to the blind, and
even breathe life into a clay bird – Surah al-Imran 3:49.
Just as Isa cleansed the leper, he too can wipe us clean
of all that defiles us.
A LESSON FROM THE DATE TREE
Allah is the master teacher! He shows us spiritual
truths through illustrations we see in the natural world.
Indeed, the Qur’an tells us “ Truly in the heavens and
the earth are signs for those who believe.”- Surah Al-
Jathiyah 45:3. Trees, including the date palm, are
essential for our survival here on earth. Through a
process called photosynthesis, harmful carbon dioxide
which is bad for us is absorbed by the tree, feeding and
nourishing it. In exchange, the tree ‘breathes out’ and
creates life giving oxygen for us! It is a divine exchange.
A miracle of nature, and a beautiful plan formulated by
our master Creator – all praise to Him! Allahu Akbar! In
the same way, if we confess our sins and rebelliousness
to Allah, and turn away from our wrong-doing by handing
it over to Isa al-Masih, he will take all that is harmful
upon himself and in exchange ‘breathe life’ into us – a
cleansed life – an empowered life.
Remember in Surah al-Imran 3:49 how Isa breathes
life into a clay bird and brings it to life? In the same way
Isa breathes life into us, not only cleansing our hearts,
but causing us to live a new life of obedience to Allah.
We read about this cleansing and new life in Taurat
Ezekiel 36:26 “ A new heart also I will give you, and a
new spirit I put within you, and I [Allah] will take away
the stony [ hard and corrupted ] heart out of your flesh,
and I will give you a new heart.”
In Surah Maryam 19:19 we read that Maryam the
mother of Jesus (may his peace and purity be upon us)
is granted “a pure son.” That pure son is Jesus himself,
Isa-al-Masih. And His purity can be yours too!
THE CHALLENGE
Just as a Palm tree absorbs harmful carbon dioxide,
and breathes out life giving oxygen in exchange, will you
surrender your sin and shame right now and receive the
righteousness from Isa – the life new life given by Isa ibn
Maryam, the Prophet of purification? The Masih waits
for you. Ma-sa-ha, ‘to clean’, ‘to clear’, ‘to wipe away’
your sins and iniquities. Will you let him?
May this humble Dua be yours: “ Almighty Allah, I
submit to you. I turn away from all that is wrong. I
recognize that I have broken your commandments and
rebelled against your righteous ways. I give it all over to
you, and ask for the righteousness that comes from Isa
ibn Maryam, the Prophet of purification. May you send
him into my life, to cleanse me, to perform Wudu on my
heart, and to empower me to live a life that is pleasing
to you. Ameen.”
